Well That Didn't Go as Expected..

NEW YORK

So, naturally, I missed my connecting flight to Barcelona. After running through the airport trying to find customer service with the 165 other people on my plane that missed their connections and possibly crying in front of the poor lady trying to help me rebook, I decided to spend a day in Manhattan. This turned out to be an amazing day! I walked from my hotel in Soho to Central Park, stopping along the way to explore some touristy sites. Even though spontaneous trips tend to stress me out, this experience really showed me how much I love the city!

BARCELONA

Now that I am finally in Barcelona (and survived my first day of class!), it's time for an update. First off, Barcelona and San Cugat (the city where ESADE is located) are some of the most beautiful areas I have ever seen! I am amazed by how old everything is and how much culture is here. Every turn leads you down an alleyway lined with beautiful balconies. My Spanish definitely needs improvement, but the locals have been so nice and helpful!

My roommate, Grace, and I have been spending most of our time exploring our neighborhood and the surrounding areas. We've tried our first paella and cava (a Catalonian champagne) and we are HOOKED!! The food here is amazing, so I'm hoping that we're able to walk enough so that I don't gain 500 pounds. The only adjustment that has been hard to get used to is that the locals don't eat dinner until 10 pm.. and if you know me you know that is HARD. I'm sure you wouldn't be surprised to know that I constantly have an emergency goldfish pack on hand.

Anyways, I'm off to go explore, eat some tapas, drink some cava, and maybe study a bit for class tomorrow.

xx
